This was given to Alice Sperl by a dear friend, written by her
brother during a personal crisis.
The Loving Garden
A flower grows in a garden true, its
petals touched by the morning dew. It reaches tall for the morning
light, and closes for the chill of night. Then one day the wind grew
strong, the leaves and soil blew along - soil for the plant in need,
soil planted in as seed. The storm, in force, was so severe, it
grabbed the roots 'till nearly clear. The ground was giving up
this plant, so frail now lying on a slant. The other flowers, close
at hand, interwove their roots to band, and thinking not about their
plight, clung on tightly through the night. The promise that the
morning brings, with joy the crimson cardinal sings. I think how
lucky I have been to have bloomed in a loving garden. Bruno
